Job Description
The National Wildlife Federation (“NWF”) and the Institute for Responsible Carbon Removal (“the Institute”) at American University invite applicants for the 2025 cohort of the Carbon Removal Justice Fellows Program.
The Fellows Program will:
Provide participants with a two-week-long introduction to the field of carbon removal, centering environmental justice considerations and concerns;
Offer a $5,000 stipend and travel + accommodation support to successful applicants;
Include conversations with key figures in U.S. federal policymaking, the private sector, and civil society; and
Involve a week in Washington DC and a week in Louisiana, meeting with community leaders and policymakers grappling with decisions around carbon removal.
We invite applications from people who work with or in environmental justice organizations, who represent frontline climate communities, or who have a strong background in environmental justice-oriented organizing and practice, as well as from people with other relevant experience and expertise.
The two-week Fellows Program will run from July 14-25, 2025. We anticipate offering up to twelve places in this year’s program.
Deadlines
The deadline to submit applications is April 4, 2025.
Applications will be reviewed April 7th-11th, 2025.
Interviews will be conducted April 14th-25th, 2025 (via Zoom).
The 2025 cohort will be announced on May 2nd, 2025 and chosen applicants will be contacted accordingly.
